About Kudumbashree

Kudumbashree has grown to become one of the largest women’s empowerment movements in the world. Established with the vision of women’s empowerment, social empowerment, and economic empowerment, Kudumbashree continues to progress successfully. Over the years, the movement has brought remarkable achievements in strengthening women and communities socially, and today it is also making significant strides in economic empowerment.

Entrepreneurship Development through SVEP

To promote economic empowerment, Kudumbashree National Resource Organization (NRO), with support from various state and central governments, introduced the Startup Village Enterprise Promotion (SVEP) project in selected blocks across India. Through this initiative, neighborhood group members and their families have been able to start enterprises, generate income, and improve their financial security.

Re-Build Kerala Initiative (RKIEDP)

The devastating floods of 2018–2019 severely impacted Kerala’s economy and the livelihoods of its people. To address this, the Government of Kerala launched the Re-Build Kerala Initiative Entrepreneurship Development Program (RKIEDP) with the support of Kudumbashree and Kudumbashree NRO (using the SVEP model). This project focuses on rebuilding the economic base of affected communities through entrepreneurship development.

Implementation in Parappa Block

The RKIEDP project is currently being implemented in seven gram panchayats under the Parappa Block Panchayat of Kasaragod district. A key component of the project is the Block Nodal Society for Enterprise Promotion (BNSEP), a block-level organization registered to work in partnership with Kudumbashree’s three-tier system for effective project execution. Under the RKIEDP scheme, around 1,500 enterprises have been formed at the block level. To ensure sustainability, collective brand initiatives and consortiums have been created in key sectors, especially food processing.

Kudumbashree Kasaragod Brand Products

The Kudumbashree Kasaragod Brand Products initiative was established to support entrepreneurs in the food processing sector. The RKIEDP Parappa Block Producers Consortium Group, consisting of 20 enterprises, has been given the exclusive right to produce food products such as:

  • Geriatric Kanjikoottu

  • Ney Pathiri Powder

  • Pathiri Powder

  • Puttu Powder

  • Banana Powder

  • Jackfruit Powder

  • Ragi Powder

  • Wheat Powder

  • Koova Powder

  • Idli Powder

Geriatric Food Producers Consortium

To cater to the health and nutritional needs of the elderly, the Kasaragod District Geriatric Food Producers Consortium Group has been formed. This consortium consists of 5 enterprises and holds the exclusive right to produce specialized products like Geriatric Food Powder and Geriatric Kanjikuttu.
